V-40HD System Program (Ver.1.21)

HOW TO KNOW THE VERSION

Before you start, check the system program version of your V-40HD.

  1. Turn V-40HD power OFF.
  2. While holding down [ OUTPUT FADE ], turn power ON.
  3. The version will be displayed at the Seven-Segment LED display.
  4. Turn power OFF.

* If this shows the latest version, there’s no need to update your V-40HD.

  • When High-Resolution Video is input via HDMI INPUT 1, noise sometimes appears at the left edge of the video.

  • When Color Space for RGB input is set to a value other than "Auto," video input via HDMI sometimes has blown-out highlights.
  • No audio is output when an HDMI Extender from Extron is connected to HDMI output.

  • In version 1.18, when the PVW ASSIGN INPUT setting has been made, the Multiview screen sometimes fails to be displayed.

  • When the system frame rate is changed to 50 Hz, in rare instances, operation stops.
  • When the unit has been powered continuously for 24.85 days or longer, video switching with [AUTO] button become impossible.

Functionality Improvements

  • The quality of OUTPUT FADE was improved.
  • Video corruption when switching among HDMI, RGB, and COMPOSITE was reduced.

Functionality Improvement

  • The accuracy of RGB-input format detection was improved.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.

  • In rare cases, input video on INPUT 4 suffers drop-out.
  • In extremely rare cases, RGB output image is extremely yellowish.
  • In extremely rare cases, system lockup occurs when loading a parameter file from a USB flash drive.
  • When a parameter file created using version 1.05 or earlier is loaded into version 1.11 or later, parameters added since version 1.11 (Auto Memory, Memory Lock) are set to ON.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.

  • Images output from EDIUS Pro 5 through the HDMI connection are not displayed.
  • Images output from some video cameras through the HDMI connection are not displayed.
  • When the setting of the color spaces of input images is AUTO and images are input through the analog RGB port at the resolution of 1920 x 1080/60 Hz, the color spaces of them are sometimes not set correctly.
  • The Auto Sampling function for analog RGB input can be executed only when the preview is set to INPUT.

The following bugs were fixed.

  • HDMI input signals are very rarely recognized.
  • The master screen is sometimes not displayed when PinP is displayed with "PIP" and "ATO" of the RS-232C command.

Additional Functions

  • The "Audio Follow" function, which outputs the audio associated with video switching, is added.
    For the operation method, refer to "Linking Audio to Video (Audio Follow)" of the latest Owner's Manual.
  • The "Recall Lock" function, which disables the MEMORY button operation, is added.
    Turning on the "Recall Lock" of the System menu disables the MEMORY button operation.
  • The "Auto Memory" function, which stores the current setting to the internal memory automatically, is added.
    Turning on "Auto Memory" of the System menu writes the current setting to MEMORY 1-1 automatically. At the next start-up, the contents of MEMORY 1-1 will be read and the device status will be recalled.

Functionality Improvement

  • Switching operation by Video Fader or video switching by the AUTO button of DSK or TRANSITION has became smoother.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.

  • After power-on, the TRANSITION indicator may not be displayed.
  • After power-on, the settings stored in MEMORY 1-1 may not be read.
  • When a preview output is connected to a monitor through HDMI Selector, the image may not be displayed on Preview Monitor.

[ Ver.1.05 ]
Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.

  • With some laptop personal computer connected by an HDMI cable, the screen resolution of the personal computer was changed to QVGA.
  • With MacBook Pro equipped with Thunderbolt connected by analog RGB, OUTPUT from V-40HD and the output image color of the preview were incorrect.
  • If PinP was activated with the BUS ASSIGN of OUTPUT set to DSK, the OUTPUT image assigned to DSK was displayed in small size.
  • If OUTPUT ASSIGN was changed from PGM to PST with Chroma DSK ON, the PST output was affected by DSK.
  • The brightness level of the signal from the composite input became low.

Bug Fixes
The following bugs were fixed.

  • A noise might occur fairly infrequently on booting up.
  • The output color space was incorrect on turning the HDCP mode on/off or switching the output mode between DVI-D and HDMI.
  • It did not store the parameters (Y Level, Pb Level, Pr Level, Gain) of Chroma 1 in DSK.
  • A misspelling in the DSK menu.

Changed Specification

  • Removed "Letterbox," "Crop" and "Dot by Dot" from the scaling type in Outputs.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO UPDATE

  • V-40HD
  • USB Memory ( Roland's M-UF2G is recommended )
    * The USB Memory need to be formatted on a V-40HD.

CAUTION WHEN PERFORMING THE UPDATE

  • Never apply this update data to any product other than the V-40HD. This update data may destroy the data or system program of other products.
  • Never power-off your V-40HD while the update is in progress!
    If a power failure or similar accident occurs during the update process, the V-40HD won’t be able to start up in normal operating mode. This will require servicing, so you will need to contact Roland service center near you if this occurs.
  • We regret that we are unable to answer questions regarding the update procedure using this system program. Please perform the update responsibly, following the directions given in this document.

GETTING THE UPDATE FILE

Please open/extract the downloaded "v40hd_sys_v121.zip" file on your computer to get the update file named "V-40HD.PRG" in the "v40hd_sys_v121" folder.

PROCEDURE FOR THE UPDATE
Creating the Update USB Memory

  1. Copy update files V-40HD.PRG to the root directory of a USB Memory.

Update Procedure

  1. Turn V-40HD power OFF.
  2. Connect USB memory to V-40HD's USB port. Turn the power on with pressing [ MEMORY STORE ] + [ PVW PGM ] + [ MENU ] buttons.
  3. Release the buttons after displaying "Upd." on the Seven-Segment LED display under [TRANSITION].
  4. The ".(dot)" indication on the Seven-Segment LED display moves from blinking to lighting. And then press [ ENTER ] button to start updating.
  5. The Seven-Segment LED display displays "OK". And then turn V-40HD power OFF.
  6. Turn the power ON again with pressing [ MEMORY BANK ] and [ PVW INPUT ].
    The Seven-Segment LED display displays "ddC". After about 30 seconds, "OK" appears and all the indications are turned OFF.
    After about 10 seconds, V-40HD automatically restarts. This is the end of the update.
    * If the Seven-Segment LED display displays "Err", turn the power OFF and proceed from step "5"
  7. Turn the power off and un-mount the USB memory from V-40HD.
  8. While holding down [ OUTPUT FADE ] button, turn power ON.
  9. Check the version number on the display.
  10. Turn V-40HD power OFF.
