It may be the time of year to think about going back to school, however, there are still some fun things to do in and around the Diocese of Wilmington:

- On Aug. 11, St. St. John/Holy Angels Parish will host its annual InternationalFoodFestival from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m at theHoly Angels Campus,82 Possum Park Road, Newark. The day features cuisine from different countries set up at different times throughout the day — most food vendors will be there by 11 a.m. There will also be entertainment. - Have you checked out St. Helena’s Second Sunday Breakfast yet? On Sunday, Aug. 11, from 8 a.m.-12:45 p.m. enjoy a large assortment of hot foods, baked goods, fresh waffles, omelets, beverages and much more. $12 for adults, $5 children under 12. - Aug. 13, at 6 p.m.: The City Deanery invites everyone to celebratethe Feast of Blessed Father Michael McGivney at St. Elizabeth Churchwith prayers at 6 p.m. and Mass at 6:30 p.m. A reception follows in Grant Hall. For more information, please email rdibuo@viking.pvt.k12.de.us.
- On Aug. 17,CelebrateNational Thrift Shop Day at Seton Center Thrift Shop,30632 Hampden Ave., Princess Anne, Md. Half-off all merchandise when you make purchase of $10 or more. - On Aug. 18 from 1-5 p.m., St. John’s in Rock Hall is hosting its annual Bull Roast at the Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Company, 21500 Rock Hall Ave., Rock Hall Md. from 1-5 p.m. The Bull Roast features all you can eat and drink and a silent auction. Advance tickets are $25 for adults & $12 for kids ages 7-12, kids under 7 are free. On the day of the event tickets will be $30 for adults & $12 for kids. Order tickets atwww.sacredparish.org
- Aug. 24, 2-4 p.m.: Walking with Moms and Family Service,Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 35318 Church Road, Frankford. The service covers any denomination of single moms or families who live within the boundaries of both parishes (St. Ann & OLG) and are in need of assistance. The goal of the group in the parishes is to save lives of the unborn and assist single moms and families. Opening service will include a defining program, prayer, rosary and divine mercy chaplet. St. Ann counselor will be present. Guest tables in the narthex at OLG will include St. Ann Respect Life Committee displaying the unification of the St. Ann ministries to include, St. Vincent DePaul, Knights of Columbus, men’s club and more. - Golfers should register now for the annual CYO Joseph A. McNesby Jr. Golf Outing on Sept. 18 at Deerfield Golf Club. The day starts at 10:30 a.m., with a shotgun start at noon, and auction/dinner at 5:30 p.m. $200 per golfer, with an additional $30 tournament specials. Sponsorships are also being accepted. - On Oct. 5 join Bishop Koenig and other Catholics in Ocean City, Md., for the Diocese of Wilmington Eucharistic Congress.Held at the Ocean City Convention Center, the theme is “The Eucharist: Source and Summit.” The day features keynote address by Bishop Richard Henning of the Diocese of Providence, and will include faith-based vendors, a ministry fair, and sessions geared toward various interests and age groups. There will also be opportunities for Adoration and Reconciliation. - Looking ahead to the fall, The St. Margaret of Scotland Church ActivitiesCommittee is looking for vendors, crafters and flea marketers to join them on Sept. 28 for the Fifth Annual Outdoor Marketplace from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Rain or shine event held in the parking lot of St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark.
