How to Make the Strongest Armor in Minecraft? (2024)

Just as people have issues or uncertainty picking the "right" materials and modifiers to make great Tinkers' Construct tools and weapons, they also get confused when trying to make great Tinkers' Armor. So, I am here to lend a hand and explain how to make a really great set of Tinkers' Armor in Sky Factory 4. This set gives you a tremendous amount of Defense (armor), Toughness, a 20% speed buff, Night Vision, Step Assist, Overall Damage Reduction from a good deal of Physical, magic, and even Fire Damage. It also gives you an additional 8 Hearts of HP almost doubling the base amount of HP that your character has normally.

For my Ultimate Tinkers' Armor, here's my configuration:

Each armor piece is comprised of:

Hard Carbon Core (leggings core, chestplate core, etc), Lead Trim, and Steel Plates. The Hard Carbon core starts the armor off with very high Defense and Durability (17 durability & 18 Defense). The materials used give each armor piece the Lightweight, Prideful, Indomitable, Heavy, and Shielding material traits. Lightweight gives you a 20% speed buff (5% speed buff times 4 since each piece gets the buff and they stack). The Prideful trait makes each armor piece tougher any time you get attacked. The Indomitable trait increases the Defense rating from 17 to 21.6. The Heavy trait makes you resistant to knockback such as getting hit my Skeleton arrows. The Shielding trait makes you resistant to magical attacks. To get your hands on the ores to make the Hard Carbon (Steel + Boron + Lithium), you can either visit the various other dimensions, or simply make a Laser Base and up to 1-4 Laser Drills (more = faster) from Industrial Foregoing. Correction: Hard Carbon is an alloy created by combining Graphite and Diamond in the Alloy Smelter. I mistakenly got it confused with the process of making Tough Alloy.

Then, I polished the pieces with sponge polishing kit by combining a Sponge Polishing Kit, with a piece of sand, and each individual armor piece in the Armor Forge table. By using Sponge as the material, it grants each armor piece the highest possible toughness rating (5.9 Toughness per armor piece) in this pack.

Next, I embossed each armor piece with Knightslime by creating a Knightslime Trim, then combining each armor piece with a green, blue, and magma slime crystal plus a block of Gold and a Knightslime Trim. This gives each armor the Invigorating material bonus that Knightslime normally gives, without the lackluster "stats" such as the low amount of toughness and mediocre durability. Invigorating makes each armor piece give you 2 bonus hearts of HP or 8 additional hearts of HP.. nearly a full extra health bar of HP!

At this point, each armor piece still has 3 available modifiers. For my first modifier, I bedazzled each armor piece with a Diamond to further increase the Toughness , Defense, and Durability. Defense on each piece increases from 21.6 to 25.6, Toughness increases from 5.9 to 7.9, and Durability increases by 150 on each piece. Next, I added 8 Resistance Modifiers to 3 of the 4 armor pieces giving the set a huge reduction to incoming physical attack damage. On the fourth armor piece, I added 8 Fire Resistance Modifiers to give a high amount of resistance from fire damage (you can stand in lava for quite a while and barely take any damage, especially if you keep up your saturation by eating).

Lastly, I added a Reinforcement Modifier to give each armor piece a 20% chance to not use up durability when you take damage. Then I ran off and hugged a cactus until each armor piece leveled up or broke. When the pieces broke, I repaired them with a Hard Carbon Ingot or two. When the pieces gained a level, I would add an additional Reinforcement Modifier until each piece was Unbreakable. Finally , I leveled up the boots one more time and added 2 pistons to give them the High Stride bonus ability which is basically like Step Assist, allowing me to walk right up 1-block tall terrain increases. I also, added Traveller's Goggles (Night Vision) to the Helmet to give me to the ability to toggle on/off the Night Vision buff.

The last modification was to add a Nether Star to each armor piece to make them Soulbound so I never had to worry about losing them if I died.

When asked if I had a God Complex, I can now reply "No, I have Ultimate Tinkers' Armor.. so I AM a GOD." :-P

Overall, the armor turns out to be one helluva bad ass armor set and should last you at least until you get a full set of Glitch Armor or Supremium Armor. The Glitch Armor and Supremium armor sets both give creative flight, so most people will "upgrade" to those armor sets eventually, even though they offer less bonuses, protection, and stats/bonuses than this Tinker Armor set.

TL:DR - Hard Carbon core, Lead Trim, Steel Plates. Polish with sponge, emboss with knightslime trim. Add Diamond, resistance/fire resistance. Make unbreakable, souldbound, night vision, and high step.
